چکیده

Dams are expensive technical constructions that ensure food production, sustain farmers’ income, and cover a large percentage of urban water supply demands. However, the threat dam break flood, which can be extremely dangerous for local society, should taken into account, proactive mitigation measures planned. Towards this direction, modelling flood hazard assessment essential developing crisis management evacuation plans. In study, hypothetical case failure Papadia in Florina Regional Unit northern Greece is examined. Two scenarios were considered: overtopping piping. A two-dimensional numerical model two was used to simulate process wave routing using HEC-RAS software. sensitivity analysis mesh size breach parameters performed better understand their impact on critical outputs simulation model. Flood maps produced GIS environment based depth velocity criteria. Furthermore, classification approaches adopted assess product velocity. The results showed extent inundated area could affect most study cause severe damage agricultural activities.

A Mathematical Model for Forecasting the Dam-Break Flood Routing Process of a Landslide Dam

Once a landslide dam bursts, its reservoir discharges quickly in a flood which will cause catastrophic damage to life and property downstream. For a specific landslide dam, the peak flow rate and the evolution of downstream flood are influenced by the shape and size of the dike breach when dam-break occurs. According to the general nature of landslide dams and field observations of dike-breach ...

Management System for Dam-Break Hazard Mapping in a Complex Basin Environment

Flood disasters from dam breaks cause serious loss of human life and immense damage to infrastructure and economic stability. The application of Geographic Information System technology integrated with hydrological modeling for mapping flood-inundated areas and depth can play a momentous role in further minimizing the risk and possible damage. In the present study, base terrain data, hydrologic...

A Dam Break Analysis Using HEC-RAS

This paper firstly described the dam break in the aspects of theories and models. Break parameters prediction, the understanding of dam break mechanics, peak outflow prediction were shown as the essential for the dam break analysis, and eventually determined the loss of the damages. Secondly, as an application example, Foster Joseph Sayers Dam break was further modeled and analyzed using USACE ...

Dam-break Flood Risk Management. an Integrated Project

Contemporary dam safety regulations include risk assessment at downstream flood plains and consideration of potential damages due to dam rupture, regardless of the expected probability of occurrence of such event. The aim of these kind of procedures is to increase the safety level along the valley against abnormal floods caused by dam accidents. Emergency plans for downstream flood plains, incl...
